5 Months

At 5 months, Jakiah is happy, healthy and such a joy in our lives! Seriously, this kid is SO smiley! He smiles at anyone and everyone and his grin is so gashdang CUTE! When he has a big grin, it's with his WHOLE body; his whole face lights up and he wiggles all the way down to his toes! *melt* You can even tell from the back of his head that he is smiling!

Jakiah is getting very active and I think rolling over (from back to front, already gone the other way many times) may not be too far in the future. He wiggles and moves all over the place when put down on the floor or other places (no more leaving him anywhere!!) and has started putting his feet in his mouth. He has gotten much more deliberate with his hands; he can reach for, pick up and put toys (and everything else!) in his mouth. He can switch toys between hands.

However, since he's now so active, he wants to be on the move any time he wakes up, which means Mommy has had some long nights lately....it just takes him a little longer to settle back down, because he wants to be up and moving!


He is so enraptured with his big sister. I'm just amazed how they already 'play' together. He loves to watch her do everything and she is great at bringing him toys, comforting and entertaining him. We have had to have several talks about what is safe (i.e. only bringing BABY toys to him, not grabbing his face and pulling for kisses, only 'holding' him when Mommy or Daddy is helping us, etc), but he is a tough kid and it rarely phases him when big sister 'helps' and just loves him SO much!

He is getting the chubbiest thighs, I love chubby babies!! He babbles and coos all the time and he is becoming so interested in everything. He loves to look at books and explore and experiment with different toys and objects. We're going to get out the Jumperoo soon, he loves standing up and jumping while holding out hands. And, randomly, this kid LOVES to be held upsidedown! Maybe it's all that yoga his mommy did while he was in the belly. Or the fact that he spent so much time facing that way, who knows??
