Finishing up 26 weeks, and the 2nd trimester!

Hello! I have not updated in a while, mainly because there's not a ton to report. We have had an appointment since my last blog, but it wasn't very eventful. We waited almost an hour for a 10 minute appt. She measured my belly, weighed me, blood pressure, and we listened to her heartbeat. Pleasant, but nothing new. I have gained a total of 12 pounds (well, at that point), which she said is great! And, my belly was measuring right on target as well. She said the heartbeat sounded perfect and my blood pressure was great. All in all, good visit! We hadn't met Chris yet, our new midwife, and she was very nice. Hopefully, we will have her for delivery, but it's so hit and miss. If our insurance allows it, my next child will be born in a birth center or at home, with the same midwife throughout the entire pregnancy!

Work is still going well, I am enjoying my nanny job. It is very nice to be able to work from home and Marlee and very cute and sweet! Every week she grows, changes and does new things! (she's 3 1/2 months developmentally) It makes me even more excited for our baby to be born!

My wonderful friends Jennifer and Elaine have started planning my baby shower, which I am very excited about! We are registered at Babies R Us and had a very fun time doing that! Nelson can't believe all the things there are for babies! I am also very excited, because my brother and sister-in-law will be there that weekend!! They are coming home on their mid-term leave from Afshanistan, I'm so excited to see them! They should be home in July for good. Oh, and my niece will be there too! I can't believe she'll already be 10 months old!

Let's see, I have some frequently asked questions about my pregnancy to answer: (1) I feel fine!! (I'm kinda sick of everyone asking how I'm feeling, even though I do the same thing when I see my pregnant friends!) Truthfully, right now I am feeling great. Everyone says the 2nd trimester is pleasant and I agree! My appetite is good, no sickness, fairly energized and well! If I didn't have a bump growing bigger by the week and something kicking in my womb, I could forget I'm pregnant at all! (2) Yes, I'm going to breastfeed. The fact that some people are asking this, proves how little some people know me. I plan to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months, add baby food (which I'm already learning how to make myself and plan to continue to do so) until one year and then only nurse at night and maybe first thing in the morning until age 2. If you really want to know all of my reasoning, I'll be glad to let you know. (3) We are planning to use cloth diapers. We already have several, which we purchased at a reduced rate on ebay. (used, but in almost-new condition) I'm very determined to do this and am really tired of the people who keep saying, "Oh, you'll only do that for the first baby..." and "Oh, you can do that, since you're a stay-at-home-mom." Niether are true. If you are determined, you'll make it work! (4) Yes, we know her name and NO, we're not telling it until she is born. However, her middle name is not definite. I have answered this a million times, but people keep asking.
